For many people, the New Year brings New Light and Hope. 2013 inspired Lea Tarantini and Elika Motaharynia, who are 6 and 8, to “ Be the change you want to see in the world” by making someone else’s dream come true.
This year, the two girls have made a pledge to donate their newly chopped off hair to A Child’s Voice Foundation – Angel Hair for Kids, a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping financially disadvantaged children in Canada. http://www.acvf.ca/
“I got the idea when my friend cut her hair for donation,” explained Elika, who isn’t new to the hairdresser’s chair.
For Lea, who heard about the idea of donating her locks to a good cause from a friend, this was her first ever hair cut.
“I want a new hairstyle to look different,” she said. “But I’m also a bit nervous because I’m so used to my long hair – I just hope people still recognize me.”
Both Lea and Elika got their new dos done at FUSE Hair Studio in Toronto by hair stylist extraordinaire, Giuseppe JoZo Alpinelli.
“I want to help kids who lost their hair because of cancer treatment,” explained Elika and added that she was “so excited to have shorter hair!”
Lea didn’t disagree, saying that their donation to A Child’s Voice Foundation “is a nice thing to do for a kid who is sick and needs hair.”
A Child’s Voice accepts hair donations which are used to create wigs for children who have lost their hair due to a medical condition or treatment.
The two girls said that they definitely plan on donating again in the future, or as soon as their freshly chopped locks grow out.
For now, this was their way of giving back to another child in need and sharing in the miracle of Love.
